Here we are already at week four of my guest bedroom makeover. In case you need to catch up, you can see my posts from weeks one, two, and three. Since the board and batten has been finished, I foolishly thought that I was basically done with the room. I was forgetting about all the little things that you need to do that require tools before adding in furniture and finishing touches. So, this past week, I focused on the little things!
The accents in this room will mostly be comprised of brass, black, or natural tones. You can see more of my vision by referencing the mood board from my week one post. That being said, I added a brass curtain rod to the window—still working on that curtain!
Next, after a snafu that involved a defective light and an exchange, I was able to install matching brass sconces to each side of the bed. So cute! They are plug-in lights with a clear cord.
Eventually, I would love to change all the door hardware throughout the house, so I took the opportunity to start here! I made the same change in our last home and loved it. This time around I picked handles for the main doors and knobs for the closets, which you can see in the background of the photo below.
Along with painting the doors to match the white from the board and batten, I also swapped out the builder grade overhead lighting from a boob light to this West Elm beauty!
And lastly, I bought two side tables for this room that came with tiny round knobs on the drawers. They were fine, but just by happenstance, I remembered that somewhere in some packed boxes, I had some substantial black knobs from Rejuvenation. That I actually found! The swap took a few seconds and I’m happy with the result!. 🙂
Minion approves! To see what others are up to, check them out here.

Love the finishes you chose, especially the sconces! Good luck with the rest of the challenge!
