You know how there are those things in your home that you never noticed before but after you’ve lived with for a while they start to bother you? The door to our powder room right by the entrance was one of those things because the door doesn’t stay open. It doesn’t close per say either, it just sits at about halfway, stealing precious natural light from the foyer and frequently trapping our Roomba when it makes the mistake of going in there unattended.
A couple weeks ago, I was stopping by Home Depot to look at hinges, and while I was perusing, I cam across this doorstop that was magnetic. I was intrigued, so I bought it. Well, today, I finally installed it on that pesky bathroom door. And I’m wondering why I waited so long!
I simply put some tape on the door and the adjacent baseboard, marked where the screws needed to go, and drilled in the hardware. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but as far as functionality goes, it means we won’t wash our hands or throw away a tissue only to run into the door that was open a second ago when we walked in. Yahoo! I’m already thinking about what other doors in the house that I could install these on. Love, Shauna
