If you’re not familiar, the One Room Challenge (ORC for short), is a six week long design challenge. That’s right: one space, six weeks. Sounds simple, right? But sometimes it’s not! It’s so fun to bounce around from room to room and project to project, that rooms can so easily be left at 95% done. I’ll check in every Thursday to document all of my progress here on the blog, so make sure to tune in every week to see where the project stands (and hopefully see a finished product in min-May!). The One Room Challenge is in it’s tenth season and you can read more about it here.
As for what I’ll be working on, I’ve decided to do the guest bedroom! This might not come as much of a surprise since I shared the evolution of it recently, but I’m itching to make my vision realized. Since moving in to this home, we’ve had a modge podge of items end up in that room because it’s what we had, but I’m hoping to make the room more intentional. As our whole townhouse is a recent flip, it looks just like a new build, without window trim or interesting architectural details, so I plan on adding some myself!

I shared this mood board a while ago, and it still holds true. I also am inspired by bits and pieces in the following images, like the dark ceiling, the big trim on the windows, the lightness of the bedding, and the bedside storage solutions.

Lastly, I’m hoping to create this room on a reasonable budget. there are some pieces that I’m lusting over, but if I just bought whatever I wanted, I don’t think that I would flex my creative muscles as much as I’d like to. So there will be some things that I recreate, and others that I will shop around for to find affordable options.
And just to remind you all, here’s what the space looked like when we moved into this home a year ago, and some images of what it’s evolved into before this challenge.
You can see all the other challengers here. Love, Shauna
I love your plan so far! I’m working on my guest bedroom too and it’s so fun to see everyone else’s guest bedroom ideas! Looking forward to following your progress over the next few weeks!
Pretty! Love the bed and can’t wait to follow along!
