Our townhouse has two sconces, one in the stairwell going to the top floor, and one on the landing of the top floor. They’re plain, upside-down half bowls, kind of a marbled glass (see bad photo as evidence above). I don’t really like sconces and I don’t know what to do with them. The ones that we have are functional. In fact, they are some of the only light fixtures in this house aside from bathrooms and kitchen lights. I hadn’t considered changing them out for any other potential design, until I came across this capiz beauty.
They match the chandelier that I would love to get for above our dining table. And I’ve been daydreaming about these sconces for a while. West Elm has sales pretty frequently, so I’ve kept my eye on them until a few months ago when all of a sudden, they disappeared from the website. I thought maybe I could find something else that I liked just as much, but I had no such luck in my quick and thorough search. So, I reached out to West Elm’s Customer Service to ask if the sconces had disappeared from the website for the season, or if they were gone for good. Gone for good, she said.
So, it came as a pleasant surprise to me when they popped up on the website again after a long hiatus! But, as much as I wanted them, I’m pretty slow to pull the trigger on anything that costs more than $50, so I waited… until the other day, when the website had a big Premier One Day Sale. Like I said, they have a lot of sales so the fact that this one was going on, and that I had some targeted ads showing up on web pages for me, flaunting those beautiful scones in front of me wasn’t a big deal. But then, I caught a glimpse of some words that changed my mind: “final sale”. I started wondering if these sconces that I love so much were about to disappear again and I couldn’t bear it! So at $45 each, with an additional 20% off at checkout, I pulled the trigger. Eeeeeeee! They are now on their way and I can’t wait! Although, I have no idea how to put it up or what I’m going to do with it after it gets here, except open the box and stare lovingly at it. All. Day. Long.
Love, Shauna

They look really cool! You could say they are an early Christmas gift to Matt. 😉
