I often reference Mt. House because it’s the main other place that Matt and I lived together as well as in Colorado. We didn’t start living together until we moved to Colorado and it was initially in an apartment. We broke that lease after 6 months though to move to a duplex in the foothills of the mountains (hence, Mountain House or Mount House). We lived in the mountains for just over three years and put in a lot of work to make it our home. The first time I saw it, I thought “Matt would love the outside of this place!… and I think I could work with the inside.” It was basically a large square box that had been separated into four rooms; two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a common space that included the kitchen, dining, and living areas. I took out the carpet in most of the unit and installed a laminate wood flooring as well as painted all the walls, trim, cabinets, and doors. A place that started as very plain with white walls that were stained from previous renters changed so well to a warm inviting space. Once we were under contract on our townhouse, I snapped some photos of the Mt. House so I could always remember what it looked like. As I’m currently hesitant to put things on the walls in the townhouse, it’s really nice to look back at the walls in these photos. I remember thinking that the walls were always “under construction” but I adore the feeling I get when looking back. So, enjoy this look back through memory lane!

I definitely loved visiting that house – I’m glad I got 3-4 visits and some hiking in there! I do remember just sitting on your counter drinking copious amounts of wine. Happy times!
