When we were house hunting, it was high on the list to have either a third bedroom or a den to convert into an office. I have the pleasure of working from home one day a week, and that’s something that Matt does from time to time as well, so I wanted to be able to dedicate a space to that. In the Mt. House, we had a second bedroom that was used for many purposes including a guest room, office, and tv room.
This space in the townhouse is right at the top of the stairs and open to the living room below. That means that it has a visual access to that great big window above the fireplace. The ceiling is also high above the loft because it just goes up to the pitched roof, so that gives it a nice airy feel. Bonus: there’s a skylight! Just one in the whole unit, but I love hearing rain on a skylight and, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m on board with any change to get extra sunlight inside.
Probably the weirdest thing about the loft is that there’s only one real wall. Two others are shorties and the fourth side is open to the walkway to get to the guest bedroom. So, as far as putting up a white board, there’s really only one option.
I do plan on setting up our desks so that the main one is facing that big ol’ window–I know that for sure.
I’ll be back with the master suite later this week!
Love, Shauna
