The living room didn’t really excite me the first time I saw it, but it has a few of my favorite features of the house, so it was only time until I realized what a great space it was. Tall ceilings, and a fireplace, and a large bright window, oh my!
The tall ceiling means we can invite our tiny giant friends over whenever we want! In all seriousness, higher ceilings were something that I wanted in our home, but didn’t want to get my heart set on. Do high ceilings speak “luxe” to you? They do to me, and I was sure that was out of the budget. So, the high clearance created by the lofted space above was an oh-so-happy find for this gal.
The fireplace. In our mountain rental (which I shall lovingly call “Mt. House” from here out), we had a wood burning stove. We also had all our utilities bundled into the price of rent, so there was never an incentive to use other resources to heat the place, so we never used it. There were also a few issues with puppy Zenko chewing on parts… I digress. The fireplace in the townhouse is beautiful and as easy to turn on as the flip of a switch. Seriously! I love fireplaces and all they offer, but I can barely stay awake to see the end of a movie, let alone wait until a fire goes out, so, a gas fireplace is perfect for me.
Above the fireplace is a beautiful large window. What I love the most about this window is that it’s a little higher up. We are in a community of townhouses, after all. So, the added height means I’m looking up at the sky instead of across into someone else’s living room.
As perfect as these features are, I’ve got big plans for them. Just wait and see…
